The Cape Town Expo for Young Scientists is an annual event in which learners from Grade 6 to 12 showcase their investigative projects.
This web site has been designed to tell you all about Expo and to encourage you to participate. Please use it as a tool to help you prepare a successful Expo project.

Regional Expo 2015
The Regional Expo will take place from Monday 31 August to Wednesday 2 September. The new venue will be the UCT Sports Centre.
Learners and teachers with learners preparing to enter the Expo will find the following presentations useful.

Important documents regarding the 2015 Expo can be downloaded from the For Teachers page. Please take careful note of the size of the Poster Board that will be provided.
Registrations are now open. Schools are encouraged to register as early as possible. Registrations must be done online by clicking on the Survey Monkey form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MSDK2FG
Entrants and their parents should take careful note of the Code of Conduct.

Cape Town learners chosen for International Science Fairs
Six learners from Cape Town schools have been chosen to represent South Africa at various International Science Fairs this year (2015). Congratulations to:
Heidi Bottcher: Fish Hoek High: What really attracts boys to girls?: Taiwan
Brendan Weaver: Herzlia High: Sodium Thiosulphate leaching for Gold:
Ronald Dubb: Herzlia High: Platinum - shiny but expensive: Intel ISEF
Anna Midgeley: Herschel Girls High:Leucadendron Sessile, the new super food: Intel ISEF
Fritz Keyser & Josiah Senior: Pinelands High: Portable suntracking solar power kit: Intel ISEF
Brendan Weaver from Herzlia High was awarded a Gold Medal at the I-SWEEEP competion. He also won a prize of $750.
Anna Midgeley from Herschel Girlsí High achieved second place in the plant sciences catergory at Intel ISEF. She also won a prize of $1 500.

Heidi Bottcher from Fish Hoek High School was awarded a silver medal AND best in category award at the Taiwan International Science Fair.
Heidi has also been chosen by the Mail and Guardian newspaper as one of 200 notable young South Africanís under the age of 35. She was selected as one of the Rising Stars of 2015.
